ABOUT

Caroline Rose is a multi-disciplinary visual artist and her most recent works are abstract responses in mixed media to the landscape (without and within). Often memories of travel surface unconsciously: she lived in SE Asia for 7 years. Research is an important part of developing projects but then Caroline lets this go as she experiments with surfaces and materials and tries to express herself and her ideas more intuitively.

Making work is often a dance between movement and meditation; the energy of mark-making and the stillness of rest/observation. Did you know more parts of the brain are dedicated to movement than language? Caroline remains fascinated by the relationship between the body moving, the breath and mark-making. Her prints, abstract paintings and gestural drawings have been described as expressing tenderness yet strength.

Now an emerging artist, it was a Fine Art, Design & Photography Foundation during lockdown that encouraged Caroline to continue her creative passion.  At Newlyn School of Art, she completed Defining Practice (2021/22) and furthered her professional development on the Studio Practice course (2022/23). Caroline recently left her art studio within the creative community at Halecat in the Lake District to move to the North East coast.
